New policy takes effect on May 10, 2022

From now, permits for the import of films upon detecting that such films containing prohibited content can be revoked in accordance with the regulations prescribed at the Decree No. 22/2022/ND-CP on the management of the export and import of cultural products for non-commercial purposes.

Compared with previous regulations in the Decree No. 32/2012/ND-CP, the Decree 22 supplements the Clause 3, Article 8 on competence to license import of cultural products. Accordingly, licensing agencies shall revoke permits for import of films upon detecting that such films containing prohibited content as regulated by the Cinematography Law.

Besides, the Decree No. 22/2022 also supplements Clause 2, Article 10 of the Decree No. 32 on permits for import of cultural products.

In particular, within 2 working days after receiving a valid dossier, the competent licensing agency shall grant a permit.

For cultural products that are films: Within 3 working days after receiving a valid dossier, the competent licensing agency shall grant a permit.
