From August 15, 2023, increase the temporary stay period to 45 days for citizens of 13 countries

The Government issues Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP dated August 14, 2023, on amending Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP dated March 15, 2022, on visa exemption for citizens of some countries.

At this Resolution, the Government decides to grant visa exemption for citizens of: The Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of France, the Republic of Italy, the Kingdom of Spain, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Russian Federation, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Kingdom of Denmark, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Finland and the Republic of Belarus with a temporary stay period of 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of their type of passport and purpose of entry, provided that they fully satisfy the conditions specified by Vietnam’s law.

Therefore, citizens of the above 13 countries shall have a temporary stay period of 45 days in Vietnam. Compared with Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP, the temporary stay period for citizens of countries that are granted visa exemption shall be extended more than 30 days (from 15 days to 45 days) from March 15, 2022.

In previous regulations, the Law Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Law on Exit and Entry passed on June 24, 2023, by the XVth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at its 5th session, the duration of temporary residence will be increased from 15 days to 45 days.


The policy of temporary stay period for citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of France, the Republic of Italy, the Kingdom of Spain, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Russian Federation, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Kingdom of Denmark, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Finland and the Republic of Belarus to March 14, 2025, and considered to be extended in accordance with law provisions of Vietnam.

The Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP takes effect on August 15, 2023.
