Criteria for identifying “social news” magazines

On July 22, 2022, the Ministry of Information and Communications issues Decision No. 1418/QD-BTTTT on criteria for identifying “social news” magazines, “social news” aggregation websites, “social news” social networks, and signs of “privatized" journalism.

Accordingly, the criteria for identifying “social news” magazines, “social news” aggregation websites, “social news” social networks, and “privatized” journalism help coordinate press agencies and central, local press authorities, presiding authorities of press agencies, and organizations, individuals to identify, supervise, rectify, and deal with any signs of deviations in order to create a healthy environment, regulations, and policies assisting press and communication.

In particular, displaying contents in a way that is confused with newspaper; primarily occurs on the internet in terms of format, contents, professional activities, structure, and organization.

This Decision takes effect on August 07, 2022.
