DECISION
ISSUED BY THE PRIME MINISTER ON APRIL 28, 1994, ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE NATIONAL STEERING COMMITTEE FOR THE INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF THE FAMILY IN VIETNAM
THE PRIME MINISTER
Proceeding from the Law on Organization of the Government adopted on the 30th of September 1992;
Upon the request of the President of the Vietnamese Women's Union,
DECIDES:
Article 1.- To establish the National Steering Committee for the International Year of the Family in Vietnam. The committee shall be comprised of the following members:
- The Director: Mr. Nguyen Khanh, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government.
- The Deputy Directors:
- Mrs. Truong My Hoa, President of the Vietnamese Women's Union;
- Mr. Tran Hoan, Minister of Culture and Information.
- The members: Representatives of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs; the State Planning Committee, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; the Ministry of Education and Training; the Ministry of Justice; The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Public Health; the National Center for Social Sciences and Humanities; the National Committee on Population and Family Planning; the Vietnam Committee for Protection and Care of Children; the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; and the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Farmers' Association.
Article 2.- The National Steering Committee for the International Year of the Family in Vietnam is to fulfill the following tasks:
1. To work out, and guide the implementation throughout the country of a plan in response to the International Year of the Family, in Vietnam.
2. To review the system of State policies on the family and their implementation by the ministries, branches and localities and propose to the Government for addition, amendment or new policies on the family with the goal of orienting the Vietnamese family toward development consistent with "prosperity, equality, progress and happiness".
3. To review and publicize the activities in response to the International Year of the Family in Vietnam.
4. To conduct international activities related to the International Year of the Family.
Article 3.- The Ministers, the Heads of the agencies at the ministerial level and the agencies under the Government, the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and cities directly attached to the Central Government, as well as the Ladies and Gentlemen listed in Article 1 shall be responsible for the implementation of this Decision.
